UK Poundland - Ultrabrite Smart Wifi Plug (ULP1GWIFIPLUG ) WB2S version
Bought at Poundland UK for £3 each, usually £6
Avoid opening if possible, but Poundland still have TYWE2S on shelves in exactly the same packaging as new stock which are WB2S based
Plug it in and scan Wifi for nearby clients, or put in AP-mode to make it more visible and even connect to it.
Looking for the MAC, the ESP based devices
D4:A6:51:XX:XX:XX = Tuya Smart Inc. (WB2S)
50:02:91:XX:XX:XX = Espressif Inc. (TYWE2S)
Opening is not too difficult but it is plastic and easily deformed. Start with craft knife or finger nail hearing "cracking" noise asyou go all the way around.
Inside the all versions are identical apart from the chip:
LD1117AG Voltage Regulator, transformer, capacitors and the backside of a WB2S
HEL-7D471K Varistor, HF152F Relay, 3.3uF Cap between the Live and Neutral, is that for filtering?
Flashing the WB2S is easiest with tuya-cloudcutter and is now added to profiles as By manufacturer/device name Ultrabrite
If you need to flash by serial then you either have de solder the main plug pins (Live and Neutral) to allow the pcb to be removed.
Or cut a hole in the bottom of the plastic case:
or use a bent pin header to blindly reach around the back of the WB2S
To flash by serial, you need to connect to the 4 pins on the backside and briefly ground the CEN pin, there's one on front and another on the back...
the TYWE2S version has the "same" pinout:
