Hi all, after changing my router I cannot connect to 2.4 GHz network with wifi 6 with my esp8266 nodemcu v3, Sonoff TH16 with tasmota v13.1 firmware, Sonoff SV with Tasmota v13. The Sonoff TH16 connects correctly with the original firmware to wifi 6. Other original Sonoff S26 devices also connect correctly to the 2.4 GHz wifi 6 network.

All the above mentioned Sonoff devices have the esp8266 module in them.
All devices based on esp8266 connect correctly to wifi 5 but not to wifi 6.

My wifi 6 network is 802.11ax and has WPS, WPA2, WPA3 encryption.
Both wifi 2.4 GHz and wifi 5 GHz wifi 6 networks have the same name and cannot change this because it is locked in the software of the router to t-mobile fibre. :-(

I can see the ap wifi tasmxxxx issued by esp8266 in these devices with tasmot firmware and I can select the wifi network and enter the password in them but after saving these parameters the devices cannot connect to the wifi 6 2.4 GHz network and they tell me to select a different network.

My Esp32 wroom with tasmot 13.1 connects without any problem to the wifi 6 network but I do not know to which 2.4 or 5 GHz.

In the password for the wifi network I use a dot at the very end but I do not think that this is the reason.
I am more betting that it is because of the same network name for 2.4 and 5 GHz despite the different addresses of these networks.

    I would appreciate any help.

Actually, I missed the information that it was T-Mobile. I'm afraid there's nothing you can do without having access to the router settings (nothing else can be set through the My T-Mobile app?).

I don't think so, but I don't recall either, but I'll check again tonight.

The solution turned out to be installing an ONT + swapping the router for one that I have full control over, and all I had to do was select WPA2 authentication instead of WPA3 for the 2.4 GHz network and the subject is gone.

Topic summary

The user is experiencing connectivity issues with their ESP8266 NodeMCU v3, Sonoff TH16, and Sonoff SV devices to a 2.4 GHz WiFi 6 network after changing their router to a T-Mobile Sagemcom FAST 5657. While the Sonoff TH16 connects with original firmware, the devices with Tasmota firmware fail to connect despite being able to see the network. Suggestions include separating the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and checking security settings. Ultimately, the user resolved the issue by installing an ONT and replacing the router, switching the 2.4 GHz network to WPA2 authentication instead of WPA3.
