Hi, I need some advice - I want to connect a smart socket to my washing machine (notification in the app when the washing is finished), unfortunately I have a problem, the washing machine started up with this socket, started making a strange noise (quite loud buzzing), for a moment it worked normally, but at some stage it crashed, after plugging the washing machine directly into a conventional socket, everything returned to normal, probably something is wrong with the specification of the socket, but since I am a total layman, I also prefer to ask what socket to look for so that everything is ok :) below the link to the model of the washing machine and the current socket:

    1. washing machine - https://www.avans.pl/agd/pralki-i-suszarki/pralki/pralka-electrolux-ew6s404wp-perfectcare
    2. socket - https://www.mediaexpert.pl/dom/inteligentny-d...a-wifi/gniazdko-gembird-tsl-ps-f1m-01-w-wi-fi

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would suggest plugging the socket into the kettle and checking that everything is ok. The power seems to be comparable.

    >>21193048 Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I thought the wattage was correct, but still something is wrong. I don't have a kettle here, but I'll check in passing, do you recommend any sockets, if any? I currently have everything based on Tuya and Google Home, but I'm moving everything over to Home Assistant at the moment

    .
Power, is not everything. The kettle, that's a simple resistance heater, and in the washing machine, probably a switch mode power supply and other damn things. And this socket costs four grand....

    >>21193101 Yes, clearly I had too high expectations of this socket :) Are you able to suggest anything?

No, because it's not my fairytale, but for 40 PLN you can expect anything. For sheer curiosity do a test with a resistance load - kettle, iron, boiler, whatever.

In the description of the socket "intelligent power measurement". As far as I'm concerned, this socket should be invisible to the receiver, similar to this wattmeter.

I wonder what the interference might be bringing in. I suspect some sort of non-contact, which is why the suggestion of "warming up" with a kettle.

If it's on a shunt, it shouldn't affect anything. Not sure how the switching is implemented though. Maybe some sort of triac and something is sitting there.

Topic summary

A user seeks advice on connecting a smart socket to an Electrolux EW6S404WP washing machine to receive app notifications when a cycle finishes. Using a Gembird TSL-PS-F1M-01-W Wi-Fi smart socket caused loud buzzing and operational failure, while direct connection to a conventional socket resolved the issue. Respondents highlight that power rating alone is insufficient for compatibility, as washing machines use complex electronics like switch mode power supplies, unlike simple resistive loads such as kettles. The inexpensive smart socket may introduce interference or switching artifacts, possibly due to triac-based control or non-contact power measurement methods. Testing with purely resistive loads (kettle, iron) is recommended to verify socket behavior. No specific alternative smart socket models were suggested, but compatibility with Home Assistant and Tuya/Google Home ecosystems was mentioned.
