    Hi!
It's been years since I've been here and my skills are rusty, which is why I'm asking for help.

I have bought a regulator from ali and I would like to control esp32 with it, from what I understand in the original board the zero detection in sine wave is implemented and the triac is controlled accordingly.
Please verify if I am wrong and suggest how to solve the control by omitting the original control board.
Maybe possibly someone has already done something similar, unfortunately I cannot find.
Circuit board with 4-pin connector labeled 5V+, ZERO, GND, SCR .
Power module with metal casing and control panel with display and buttons. .

If you want to control the triac via the ESP, the simplest solution is to use an intermediate circuit - an optotriac. This is a kind of optocoupler, but it has a triac at its output. The tiny triac is used to switch the large triac. And if, in addition, you want to switch it at zero mains voltage, I recommend using an optotrianc with zero detection function. You can give the optotriac diode control voltage at any time, the circuit in it will wait until the voltage passes zero and only then will it switch on the output triac and thus the large triac.
