Preparing for a new kitchen installation, I decided that several inconveniently positioned wall socket outlets should be relocated. Unfortunately there is insufficient loose cable backed up within the cavity stud dry wall, so at least two cables will need extending. Sounds simple but I am unsure exactly what best practice dictates for such cable joints. I'd prefer to avoid inspection plates over the old outlet positions because I can then have greater freedom to position cupboards on the wall in question.
Is there a suitable connector that is acceptable for making such a cable extension & is it acceptable to then place it within the wall & plaster over the old socket outlet?
Perhaps a screw down terminal connector using 2 screws to secure each conductor join? If so is a protective sheath over that connection required & if so is electrical tape suitable.
Apologies for a trades skill related question, which is a bit towards left field of what we generally see posted.
I'd appreciate the advice - Thanks
