I I'm hoping to make this exact one but before I do I need to know how strong the pulses are generated from one of these, like is it strong enough to take out a laptop/CPU, walkie talkie, smoke detector from 2-3 meters even if the neon sign was connected to the capacitors generating a spark gap.??????????

Hi Jake,

I think it is not that good idea. Wireless power transmission of 2-3 meters already requires a large amount of energy(enough to kill living organisms) to transfer with that range. And also with that range of transmission, it is more prone to accident even you're dealing magnetic induction.

You can try microwave method if it still give you an interest.

The Tesla coil is one of Nikola Tesla's most famous inventions. It is essentially a high-frequency air-core transformer. It takes the output from a 120vAC to several kilovolt transformer & driver circuit and steps it up to an extremely high voltage.
