Hello, is it possible to turn a WBR3 module off?
It is installed in an automatic cat toilet. I don't have Wi‑Fi signal so I don't want the module to send Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi signals permanently during the whole day and night while we sleep.
    Thank you.

Hey, how your WiFi litter box looks like, what is the device exact model, is it battery-powered or mains powered?

Do you want to modify the device firmware or just turn off the WBR3 (if possible)?

I don't think there is an easy and non-invasive way to do it, however, if your device is TuyaMCU, there is some chance it can work with WiFi module disconnected. Still, that's a risky mod and it requires some basic skills and knowledge. Are you really willing to try?

What is the motivation behind the WBR3 removal?

I don't think that unpaired Tuya device sends any WiFi signal. It could scan BT if in Easy pairing mode, and create AP (WiFi), but only in AP Pairing mode.

    Hi, thanks for answering.

You said that maybe an unpaired module doesn't send any Wi-Fi and any BT signal. If that is so, it is perfect.
So I would reset the little box.
But how do I know if there are any signals being sent?

But if not, I would take the risk to disconnect the module.
I hope the little box would work with a disconnected module.

    Thank you

Well, WiFi most likely is not broadcasted, if it is, do you see the SmartLife AP broadcasted? When you use your mobile phone to search for WiFi networks around? I guess it's not broadcasted.

Then comes the Bluetooth - when you run Tuya App on phone, does it see the device?

Still, why are you worried about it?

Thank you. I will try to reset the litter box, and I will see if my phone shows any Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signal.

The litter box is not far from the bedroom, and I try to shut down any device with electromagnetic radiation at night while sleeping.

Topic summary

The discussion addresses the possibility of disabling the WBR3 WiFi and Bluetooth module integrated into a mains-powered automatic cat litter box. The device model is identified via an Amazon listing as the TRIUMPHKEY Self-Cleaning Eliminator Automatic Multi BBCat. It is noted that turning off the WBR3 module is not straightforward and may require invasive modifications or firmware changes. If the device uses a TuyaMCU platform, disconnecting the WiFi module might be feasible but involves risk and technical expertise. Additionally, unpaired Tuya devices typically do not emit continuous WiFi signals; WiFi and Bluetooth transmissions occur mainly during pairing modes such as Easy pairing or AP Pairing mode.
