Hi last I am facing a very frustrating problem for me. Namely, it concerns the USB to UART chip (ch340) with which I upload code to the ESP8266. I have installed the driver from the manufacturer's website so I don't see it as the cause of the problem I am encountering, as I am also using an arduino nano which also has the aforementioned chip (ch340). And as I mentioned before, the nano (Chinese clone) has no problems with communication: board<-->computer. Back to the problem, the wemos d1 mini is sometimes only detected by Windows 10 after uninstalling the drivers and several attempts to connect. Everything nicely, beautifully the serial com port is assigned, but going into settings and then devices I can see something like this: USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM4), and below in grey: driver error. When trying to upload code to the board via the Arduino IDE I get errors saying I can't upload code (in a nutshell). I also need to short GND to D3 so I can enter programming mode, which is not always possible. Below I attach pictures showing the problem.
