Is there any point in putting a password-protected keypad in the living room?
Perhaps you know of better places?

I don't understand ... Is this question some kind of provocation or total mockery? Please elaborate on the thread because it's not clear what specifically the problem is.
Without specifying you may get the answer that even a WC would be a good location ....

Surely the touchscreen keypad, if it is to be placed in the living room, should not be the only keypad in the system. There must be a 'normal' keypad mounted at the front door for disarming the system as soon as you enter the house (to keep the number of delayed lines and the time to enter as short as possible). The touch-screen keypad installed in the living room can be used to operate the home automation system (if any) based on the SSWiN system.

    Regards.

    .
Correct but on condition that it is an SSWiN. The question was asked in the section "Home Automation and Domoticz" and not in "Alarm Systems" so maybe let's withhold advice until there is a correction. For the time being it is a waste of "steam...".

Gentlemen, I am talking about the control of home automation via a touchscreen located on a wall, for example. It is obvious that you cannot control everything via a smartphone all the time. How many such touch-screen controllers are usually placed and where?

In this case, you install where it is convenient. Most often in the passageway where householders move around going in and out of the house. In the living room (in my opinion) it is such a showpiece for guests. There the smartphone or tablet is often at hand. You can think of a second panel in the communication path to the bedroom. However, it is worthwhile (in my opinion) to enrich the system with a voice assistant e.g. Amazon Echo Plus, Google Assistant, Siri etc.

    Thank you for the info.
    .As for the assistant
I have been thinking about it. I know that the control panel of the ROPAM system has the possibility of Wifi connection with the google aststent...or integration with the google home speaker.
However, I do not know if a PLC such as WAGO 400 or S7 -1200 offers this possibility.

WAGO PLC for the home? There are much cheaper and equally efficient solutions. As far as the alarm keypad is concerned, it is known at the exit door, although this type of solution is medieval. Personally, I have given up, I currently use smartphone arming manually or via GPS location, by the way a WAGO or s7 cannot handle this.

And which control panel are you using mate?
Why can't WAGO or S7 handle it?

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around the optimal placement of a password-protected touch-screen keypad in a detached house, particularly in the living room. Participants suggest that while a living room location can serve as a showcase for guests, it should not be the only keypad; a standard keypad at the front door is essential for quick access. The conversation also touches on the integration of home automation systems, with recommendations for additional control panels in high-traffic areas and the potential use of voice assistants like Amazon Echo Plus and Google Assistant. Concerns are raised about the capabilities of certain PLCs, such as WAGO and S7-1200, in relation to home automation and smartphone integration.
