[Solved] Directional line control on MAX485 with ESP8266 for RS485 Wi-Fi energy meter

I need to make a connection to an energy meter via Wi-Fi. The meter has an RS485 port (modbus, 9600). There is no way to permanently route the wires. I have an ESP8266. I found a program on the internet but it does not control the direction line on the MAX485. How can this be done?
