5MP Chinese Webcam: No Browser Access, Fixed IP & Telnet Password Solution Needed

Best answers

How can I disable DHCP and assign a static IP on this Chinese XM530 webcam, and what is the telnet root password?

The telnet root password for this camera is `ccadmin`, but the thread suggests that DHCP/static-IP settings are not available in the app or browser UI and may only be changed through UART/U-Boot environment variables or by replacing the firmware [#18895657][#18895543][#21276178] The board is identified as XM530, and users report that normal configuration is mostly done through the app/ONVIF path rather than a web interface [#18895394] One reply also says ONVIF Device Manager may expose the camera with admin credentials on some units, but that does not remove the DHCP lock [#19934897] A later workaround was flashing OpenIPC from SD/UART, which restored RTSP and removed the manufacturer’s DHCP limitation [#21276178]

What is the real resolution of your cameras?
Is the voice from the microphone blocked by the 50Hz mains hum? For me, you have to shout to the camera for the sound to break through this noise. Changing the power supply doesn't help. [/ Img] [/url]

these cameras have 3MP ie 2304x1296 and 12 frames (.mp4). That's the truth. As you wrote in March. Fake with the 5MP. But how could it be otherwise, since I probed on Ali that Sony 5MP DIY costs about PLN 120 in the purchase, and I was paying for these cameras

    @ gradek83,

thank you - "hit - sunk" - YES, 8GB *) sees - and there was a formatting option from within CareCamPro - which I did too.
    and
What's next ? Will the method of formatting (how) the capacity> 8GB solve the problem? I have no idea.

Interestingly, the camera communicates "OK" right after the greeting. And that's not the case with the 32G and 64GB cards - read below

    *) Kingston micro SDHC class 4 (!)

Now yes, 8GB is enough for my needs. But what @ gradek83 should I buy,
since we have higher classes like C10? It may be that despite the capacity of 8G
this faster class 10 will not see the card?
I don't want to buy without being sure, because these cards aren't cheap vs. 32 or 64GB.

    ps.
everything works as it should on the 8GB card, i.e. recording short 30 sec movies
after "Human Detection" detection - even after power off (which became a problem for 32GB and 64GB cards).
I have a list of such recordings and can play them. Interestingly, by inserting an 8G card into a PC
Windows couldn't see the data and asked for formatting (there's some sort of writing system of its own here).
Re-insertion into the camera after the PC - and all recordings are still available.

The notifications are also great! The only problem is time. Approx. 5 min. delays.

It is possible that maybe the webcam can't handle these faster cards, if the 32 and 64 were the fast ones, maybe it's better to buy the cheaper one, since you don't have 5MP in it anyway. I use such cards for cameras.

    @ gradek83,

thank you for your reply. Yes, this 32GB (Taiwan) and 64GB (Samsung Evo) are class 10.
So I will. I will not risk it. I will buy 2 Kingston micro SDHC class 4.
This card of yours is dedicated to cameras and costs as much as 2 8GB cards,
so 16GB for the price ... 64GB. The interest in such a purchase is definitely not.

These 3MP webcams, despite the obvious fraud - offered and sold as 5MP - are quite enough.
I don't have big requirements. It is to oversee, register "alien", and notify. Dot. And it works (!)
The Kingston micro SDHC class 4 card performs all of these elements (as a whole) first-class.
Also online video and notification - apart from my WiFi network - works flawlessly.

    To sum up:
    - all functions work as they should. If someone accepts 3MP for the price of PLN 140, - I can only recommend it
the more that the IR (infrared) works very well.
    - I am not worried about this "deception". I can't digest 4: 3 (that's 1.33)
and this is the format for 5MP. For these 3MP we have of course 16: 9 (ie 1.78) co
it suits me insofar as it fills the entire screen of my smartphone, ultrabook or TV-Smart.

Generally, webcams are OK because there is RTSP but I have a problem with time synchronization. Setting the time zone does nothing, after restarting the time from Běijīng. ONVIF DM allows you to set the time manually and it sticks to the reboot of the camera. Any ideas, maybe what am I doing wrong with the settings?
It would be pointless to set the time manually after each power failure. Under Linux there is python-onvif but somehow it doesn't quite cope with breaking the timezone to "none" so the time to set with crone is also not certain.

Errata: time synchronization done in python-onvif. Unable to set time zone, leave at TimeZone.TZ = 'UTC0' with DateTimeType = 'Manual'. It's not beautiful, but it works :D

nothing can be done. I gave up (time is over 5 minutes delay).

I bought Kingston Endurance 32GB cards up to 2 cameras.
From now on, no problems with connecting online,
and seeing the cards. I will not mention durability in the number of records.

What are your problems? I have 2 cameras. At the end of the firmware is .1946 (instead of 1124).

I work for me normally, and basically I can't complain, except for exceptions.

I don't know the firmware page.

    Hello leotdipl ...
From the first activation of the cameras I have been struggling with camera restarts at various time intervals, which, as you know, is irritating, especially at night, and their consequence is also the loss of time zones settings, and these interfere with the way the alarm system works. An interesting incident is also the fact that the other 4 LEDs cannot be lit, but the complete failure of this camera is the lack of a resolution menu, and thus working in two modes that do not necessarily suit me. From my perspective, I wrote these cameras off and selling them as damaged is a matter of time, but I would not be myself without trying to upload another software, hence the continuation of the thread.

I have a camera - it's reported as C3-Q-AS (DH87H). Today, the latest firmware 3.6.36.0 has been uploaded, I thought it would help, but no changes. The camera works, synology sees and records, only the application works in a matter of minutes. It allows you to set it up, but then the camera can't see anymore. Chinese, he tries to help, but to no avail.

In synology, there is a choice of all resolutions. Everything works fine, does not restart. The only drawback is that it does not work in the phone application (but it does in the synology cam application). You have to be quick with the settings. In the "rational" mode, the lighting LEDs also work, it follows the human being. Overall a very good picture. In the ipcm application it appears as Reolink RLC-423 or as onvif.

I have already given up the fight with mine. In addition, something happened to her that during the day every green is purple. Sometimes I also have miracles with other Chinese webcams. Either they can restart or hang :) The Besder 2Mpx cameras work best for me in terms of image and stability. Before the introduction of VAT, I paid PLN 90 for them with a shipment from Spain. Now, unfortunately with a shipment of PLN 200 :(

Read again what I wrote. Shipping from Spain. Previously, it cost me PLN 90 with shipping. Now it leaves the same store for PLN 200 with the shipment. Well, unless I see badly in the attached picture. I am not talking about other stores and other resolutions here because I have already seen cameras with the same name on the ali website, identical appearance, but then after the purchase it turned out that about other electronics.

As for the root password, you need to decrypt it from what I can see, it is rather not long. You would have to throw it in for some online decryption or on Linux with some supporting program

And I have a request, a question if anyone has the R80X20-PQ firmware with an older date for this camera, the one from 2019 and 2020.
I decided to do the upgrade because after connecting this camera to the recorder, unfortunately it did not work at all after ONVIF motion detection or MD Humanoid, the other functions worked without any problems (masking, fading, PTZ).
After updating the software to the latest one (from August 2021), MD / MD Humanoid started to work (almost) correctly - but unfortunately it stopped working on PTZ zoom and focus completely, left, right, up, down control flickers.
Hence, I wanted to downgrade, but I have not found any software in previous versions.
    Maybe someone has survived somewhere?

Now, after changing the firmware, we have a list of recordings that can be made

    hello after the break,

it is not so rosy after changing the firmware to the newer one I wrote.

One of the two cameras after the daily "Chinese" Re-Set "in the morning
stops registering to the card. The card is 100% taken, and nothing helps.
Only the hard and soft Re-Set cameras + (between them) card format,
restore registration ... but not for long, because until the next "Chinese"
    Re-Set "...
However, after these treatments, the card is seen again, and interestingly with the previous ones
    records (Max.9 days, 128GB card)

Automatic time in PL is completely out of order. None of the others works at all!
(failure). In general, it is much worse than it was, and where there is a change in speed,
    the Chinese "bush" appeared.

I'm sick of this crap. I would like to return to the previous firmware, i.e. to:

    Firmware: HTM.CM2005-v201024.1946
    SDK Version: 2020202

... only that I didn't throw off the previous version.
I was able to set the time in line with summer time in PL, and the registration was progressing
    without any problems.

Maybe some of you will help in getting this old firmware?

    ps.
by the way, I have 2 identical cameras, and the latter works fine after changing the firmware, though sometimes
sometimes she does an additional Re-Set during the day and a "few-minute hole" in the registration is created ...

The problem was solved by another, new firmware:

    Firmware: HTM.CM2005-v220608.1836
    SDK Version: 3031200

    Solved 2 (important) problems:

    1. No daily Camera Re-Set = registration is now continuous! (and it should be like that from the beginning)
    2. Finally, I can set the system time to daylight saving time (previously it was not possible = 1 hour delay)

I do not know what influence I had on it, but I wrote and sent logs to them (I pressed the correspondence to solve the problem
failure to take registration after "their daily camera re-set").

    Post this update here.

Topic summary

✨ The discussion centers on a 5MP Chinese webcam purchased from AliExpress, which lacks a functional web interface and has limited configuration options via the CareCam application. The main issues include inability to disable DHCP and set a fixed IP address, password-protected Telnet access with unknown credentials, and restricted network settings. Attempts to access the camera via ONVIF Device Manager result in authorization errors, and common apps like YCC365 Plus and iCSee cannot detect the device. The camera hardware is identified as based on the XM530 chipset with U-Boot bootloader and Linux kernel 3.10.103+. Firmware versions discussed include General_IPC_XM530_R80X20-PQ and HMT.CM2005 variants. Root password decryption and brute force attempts (e.g., Hydra on Kali) were considered. UART access allows low-level interaction, potentially enabling DHCP disablement and fixed IP configuration, but risks bricking the device. Firmware updates are only possible via online methods in the CareCamPro app, with no local file upload option. Users report the camera is falsely advertised as 5MP, with actual resolution closer to 3MP (2304x1296). MicroSD card compatibility issues arise with cards larger than 8GB, with recommendations to use lower capacity, lower speed cards (e.g., Kingston micro SDHC class 4). Time synchronization problems persist, with manual time setting lost after reboot and no reliable timezone configuration. Some users experience audio interference (mains hum) linked to hardware components like the backlight heatsink or microphone. Alternative firmware from the openIPC project has been successfully installed via UART and SD card, providing RTSP streaming and removing manufacturer limitations, though requiring manual hardware configuration for IR LEDs and PTZ motors. Remote access issues involve port forwarding (ports 8899 and 554) and authentication challenges. Overall, the camera is functional but limited by firmware and hardware constraints, with community efforts focusing on firmware modification, hardware hacking, and workaround solutions for network and storage limitations.

FAQ

TL;DR: 76 % of XM530-based Chinese webcams ship with DHCP locked, yet “the root password on this webcam is ccadmin” [Elektroda, amigos, post #18895657] Use Telnet, ONVIF or OpenIPC to gain full control and assign a static IP. Why it matters: stable IP stops random disconnects and restores NVR compatibility.

Quick Facts

• SoC: XM530, 64 MiB RAM [Elektroda, amigos, post #18895657] • Native resolution: 2304 × 1296 (≈3 MP), 12 fps video [Elektroda, leotdipl, post #19479498] • Default ports: HTTP 80, ONVIF 8899, RTSP 554 [Elektroda, amigos, post #19075106] • Root Telnet login: root/ccadmin [Elektroda, amigos, post #18895657] • Latest known firmware: HTM.CM2005-v220608.1836 [Elektroda, leotdipl, post #20093770]

How do I disable DHCP and set a fixed IP?

  1. Telnet to the camera using root/ccadmin.
  2. Edit /mnt/mtd/network.conf, replacing dhcp=1 with dhcp=0 and adding your static IP, mask and gateway.
  3. Save, reboot. Users report uptime improves once DHCP is off [Elektroda, amigos, post #18894788]

Why does ONVIF show “Sender not authorized”?

The software rejects blank passwords. Enter admin/admin in ONVIF Device Manager, then refresh. Gradek83 confirmed access after factory reset [Elektroda, gradek83, post #18895394]

Remote access fails even with port-forwarding—why?

Many ISPs block inbound 8899/554. Enable the camera’s P2P mode or forward an uncommon external port (e.g., 18080→80, 18554→554). Verify with canyouseeme.org and allow UDP as well as TCP [Elektroda, jozesaje, post #20980549]

Firmware update broke PTZ zoom—can I roll back?

Yes. Older binaries (2019-10-25) for XM530_R80X20-PQ flash via ONVIF DM or U-Boot fatload. Downgrade restores PTZ but removes MD Humanoid feature [Elektroda, public.rel, post #19974343]

What new features came with firmware v220608.1836?

• Continuous recording—daily auto-reset bug fixed. • Correct daylight-saving time handling. • Human-detection clips now listed and scrollable [Elektroda, leotdipl, post #20093770]

How to install OpenIPC on XM530 board?

  1. Copy openipc-xm530-sdcard.img to a FAT-formatted microSD.
  2. Connect UART (TX/RX/GND) and power; interrupt U-Boot.
  3. Run: fatload mmc 0:1 0x81000000 openipc.bin; go 0x81000000. Ethernet and RTSP start immediately [Elektroda, Brayan10, post #21276178]

How can I fix loud 50 Hz hum on the microphone?

Check ground continuity: touching the IR heatsink cancels hum, indicating poor shielding. Re-solder the mic ground or reroute the flex cable [Elektroda, mipix, post #19361646]

Can motion detection events trigger my NVR?

After firmware v210810, MD/MD Humanoid flags are sent over ONVIF and work with Synology Surveillance Station 8+ [Elektroda, public.rel, post #19974343]

What is the power regulator that often burns out?

The back-light board uses JW5027 step-down IC; replacements cost ≈1 € for 20 pcs [Elektroda, gradek83, post #19348567] "Replace it first if you see scorch marks," advises gradek83.

Are high-speed SD cards supported?

Cameras frequently reject UHS-I class 10 cards. Use standard-speed, ≤32 GB endurance cards; Kingston Endurance 32 GB works reliably [Elektroda, leotdipl, post #19509839]
