    Hi there
I need a Eastern motion detector
There is already wainscoting by the stairs and Mrs. House - ABSOLUTELY!!! does not agree to drilling, forging , etc. to run power to the sensor. :)
So the detector is to be:
    - wireless (ie. battery-powered)
    - pet-proof (there are cats in the house)
    - If you also suggest a receiver The receiver (can have continuous power supply) has to switch on the LED strip.
Preferably - solution as simple as possible - some kind of (direct, radio?) link to the receiver, not necessarily IoT, ESP, the simpler the better!

There are no off-the-shelf stair motion detectors, and battery power means you can only use: Zigbee or 433/800MHz
Both solutions are about a year on battery. Proper placement of the detectors and not looking 'down' should eliminate small animals.
Now you find a detector on Zigbee e.g. Aquara, to this a Zigbee gateway (already powered) and executive relays to the LED strip.
The Aquara detectors connect to the gateway and send motion detection, the gateway receives and decides whether to switch the relay on or off.
You program yourself in such a way that one sensor detects entry and the other, for example, turns off the light to achieve a 'staircase' effect.
That is, such a small IoT, costing a few hundred zloty, but you can then expand further. For example, there are already sensors for the so-called human presence, for example in the bathroom or on the stairs.
Another method is sensors on 433MHz and also a gateway somewhere standing (powered).
It would make things much easier if you could supply voltage and wired, then maybe it would be possible to program something on the ESP yourself or just use wired NC/NO detectors.
Because everything must be wireless, the subject becomes complicated and you enter into full home automation.

    For me this is OK

this too, because I guess it is simpler and no programming is needed (?)

There are also wireless sensors, with resistance to detect small animals.
    I am thinking of e.g.
Motion and presence detector IP65, 2000W, 3 sensors Sonoff
Wireless Pet-Proof Motion Detector for Stairs with LED Strip Receiver

    Motion detector Gomedia CT60M Sonoff
Wireless Pet-Proof Motion Detector for Stairs with LED Strip Receiver

SATEL motion detector MPD-300 wireless MICRA wireless system (directly to Micra, Perfecta WRL or via MCU controller to Versa PBX)
Wireless Pet-Proof Motion Detector for Stairs with LED Strip Receiver

    Question:
    1) which would be ? or any other suggestion?
    2) and which matching radio receiver with relay switching the LED strip? (I don't need WiFi, mobile control, etc...).

The simplest is the first two. But I would focus more on gate analysis and applications for these gates. Will they allow you to arbitrarily program two sensors in the form of a staircase kit?
For example in home assistant you will do everything, but it is too big a cannon.

Another solution would be to look for a receiver module and embrace on ESP (even if you don't need WiFi it can be the cheapest and smallest of this "Arduino").
However, here you need to know how to program.
