    Good morning,
After moving to a second flat, the intercom was not working. After replacing it with a new one of the same kind and connecting it the same way, it still didn't work.
I have a question, was the old one connected correctly, as I have two wires left?

Close-up of an intercom panel with a keypad and a display on a wall background.
Image of two white intercom handsets on a wooden surface.
Door intercom with open casing and visible wiring.
Inside of an intercom housing with visible electronics and wires.

Could someone advise me, what to do with this before calling in some professional?
    Thank you in advance.

If it's a flat in a block of flats it probably has some sort of administrator and that's where you should report the breakdown because that's what you're paying for.

Reportedly, from the administration, the mother-in-law was referred to a maintenance man connected to the municipality's housing association who, during a phone call, said it would be about 250£ where and told to wait for more than almost 2 weeks because he has a lot of orders.

This is a user manual, not an installer manual. For it to have a chance of working you must enter the flat number (it must know that you are calling it and not your neighbour). On the old one on the jumpers was the number 30, is this the flat number you have?

Look at chapter 4 in the manual.

Yes, the flat is number 30 and that is how the call is made. In the old one there was supposedly a signal in the flat but it was not possible to make a connection and open the door when a friend replaced the handset the signal disappeared completely.
The two wires that were and are connected are sufficient for this intercom to work properly?

Yes two wires are enough. Set the address of the handset (read the manual point 4) and only then check.

Topic summary

The user is experiencing issues with a newly installed intercom system in their flat, which remains non-functional despite being connected similarly to the previous unit. They inquire whether the old intercom was wired correctly, noting that two wires are left unconnected. Responses suggest checking the flat number settings, as the intercom requires proper configuration to function. It is confirmed that two wires are sufficient for operation, and the user is advised to refer to the manual for setting the address of the handset. The user also mentions difficulties accessing the QR code instructions provided with the new intercom.
