    Hello

I have a problem with esp8266 bought on Aliexpress. After installing WLED via:
    https://install.wled.me/
    Installing version 0.14.1

Everything works, I connect to my Wi-Fi network. The problem is that the controller randomly resets and I have to set the color, effect, zones etc. from scratch.
I can't find the reason why this happens...

I have a WS281B addressable LED strip connected to this.
Power supply via 5V3A USB charger.

Looks like power supply problems. How much power does the strip need / how many diodes are in the strip?

One diode needs 60 mA for full white light, there are 60 diodes.
The power supply has only 3 A, so until it is replaced I do not light at maximum, only half.

Not a power supply but a charger *)
This has e.g. different dynamics, and flashing is certainly a dynamic situation.

*) truthfully such a guinea pig.

I've read this more than once somewhere that a charger is a different thing to a power supply, so perhaps you could explain what the differences are and whether a charger can be used for anything other than charging a phone/battery?

The charger has a circuit to control the charging process/stabilise the charging/disconnecting current of the batteries after charging and the power supply unit gives 5V with a maximum current of 3A.

You have the power supply unit

What does this mean in practice?

Connect an ammeter and voltmeter and you may find that after a while the charger recognises that it has charged your "LEDs" and limits the charging current given? And the power supply won't limit the injected current as long as it's working? That's what I think, but I don't know if I'm thinking correctly.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around an issue with an ESP8266 controller purchased from Aliexpress, which resets randomly after installing WLED version 0.14.1. The user connects a WS281B addressable LED strip powered by a 5V3A USB charger. Responses suggest that the problem may stem from the power supply, as the LED strip requires significant current (60 mA per diode for 60 diodes), exceeding the charger's capacity when all LEDs are lit. Participants clarify the differences between a charger and a power supply, emphasizing that a charger may limit current after detecting a full charge, potentially causing the resets. Recommendations include using a proper power supply instead of a charger to ensure stable operation.
