    Good day all.
A modern surveillance camera uses the IC BEKEN BK7252UQN48. Another number on it is AU3452XB. It takes endless video and features Wi-Fi, uses a micro SD memory, does motion sensing and works on a built-in small lithium cell.
----> How to modify/tweak to save motion-triggered PHOTOS - snapshots! NO interest in using the video mode.

Am extremely frustrated I cannot find the same type of small/cheap camera doing PHOTOS! Cannot believe that, being capable of video, it cannot do photos! Help !
    Looks like :

Ad for a mini camera with icons: motion detection, remote control, loop recording, and TF card.

AI: What is the brand and exact model number of the camera/module, or a link/photo of the board and the whole unit ?
Generic Chinese; opened to find which chip is in there.
AI: Have you checked the maker’s app/web interface for any “snapshot/photo/still image” or “motion alarm picture” setting, and are you asking about a normal setting change or a firmware/hardware tweak ?
No information from manufacturer nor seller published.

But do you want to use original firmware or custom one?
Helpful post? Buy me a coffee.

I can't say I've noticed the desired feature in any of the apps that come with these cams, not that I've been looking for this requirement specifically.

There’s no need to get so frustrated – these cameras cost next to nothing, because the PRC has churned out loads of them as a sort of miniature ‘monoblock’ – they’re trying to sell them off, so they cost very little and give you what they give.
The camera could, of course, take photos, but you’d have to reprogram this ‘monoblock’, which isn’t easy, meaning it’s not cheap. You could persist and spend hours on it, with no guarantee of success, to reengineer it and input/program your requirements.
You could also buy a motion-activated camera, but... there’s no telling how much it will cost or whether it will have all the features of this “little cheap model, which is what it is”. I’ve got a little camera for 2 USD too.

    Thank you, gentlemen.
I do not care if the firmware is this or that or the other. Just want photos instead of forcing me to video, and seems no manufacturer of the same and similar implements such photo mode, the customer having to go through reviewing lengths of time to search for the frame of interest. Stupid Chinese approach. Photos could be taken for the same low-price product, but am pushed to buy unreliable 'trail cameras' at ~100 times the price.

This is supposed to be a 'motion detect' camera already. Cannot find its IC data sheet to discern if a simple jumper on its pinout can be set for photos. If you have access to it, please share. IC is Beken BK7252UQN48. I do not have the capability nor skills of altering its firmware :-(

Am after 5 V supply, motion-sensing snapshots saved on an internal memory card. No fancy extras. And all manufacturers are pushing for Wi-Fi and more comforts. Cannot even discern from advertised features if what they sell takes mandatory Wi-Fi to operate; or can work without, or keeps saving images if wireless loses link...
