    Hello everyone.

I would like to make an installation in the living room that would allow me to control the lighting and the external blind in the conventional way using buttons on the walls and additionally using the logitech harmony ultimate universal remote control.

I'm thinking of controlling the lighting with relays and monostable buttons and, in parallel with these, connecting a controller that receives and decodes the signal from the remote control.
(It works just like a monostable button) I do not know if something like that would work and what parts to buy, if any.

I am thinking of connecting a two-button controller and buttons to a roller shutter in the same way as a relay with two parallel outputs from the ir module, one per button.

I do not know whether to purchase a module with relays and connect them to other relays in the cabinet because I want to connect bell buttons and still be able to control them from the buttons in the event of a failure of the ir module.

Will something like this work and what kind of control relays for the roller shutter and the ir module(s) do you recommend?

Please help and thanks in advance for your suggestions.

This will work provided that devices with identical outputs are used.
A separate issue is the protection against conflicting commands for the roller shutters given at the same time (pressing the "down" button on the remote control and at the same time pressing the "up" button on the manual button) . This must be taken into account when connecting to avoid damaging the drive.

I.e. the relays in the ir control unit must be monostable like the pushbuttons and which relays should I install in the cabinet that will directly switch on the light?

    Added after 6 [minutes]:

Do the two-button roller shutter controllers not have protection against such an eventuality? On the physical buttons on the wall you can also unintentionally press both at the same time.

Is it better to use a one-button controller?

    .
Yes, but then the button assembly behaves as if no button had been pressed.

    .

Buttons have the property I wrote about above - it is not possible to electrically activate simultaneous up and down movement.

    I described the integration here:

Although the case is about integration with an alarm system but the "ideology" is the same.

Is there any possibility of connecting the controller with a local input to e.g. a switch on the wall and the input of the central control to a relay or would such a solution eliminate the problem?

I only want to control it with a switch and a remote control without any central or group switches

    What is the controller? Model?

After reading the entire manual, I have come to the conclusion that it is only possible to connect the roller shutter to a full upward or downward movement without being able to stop.

What if I were to connect it using the AVT3138 module (in monostable mode of operation ) where the relays have NC, COM and NO outputs in combination with the STR-1 F&F roller shutter controller and a switch to control the roller shutter with this protected against conflicting signals.

Connect the whole in such a way that:
L or N from the controller connect to COM of one relay from the same relay NC connect to COM of the second relay and NO to input 5 in the controller from the second relay NO connect to input 6 of the controller and NC to input in the N/L switch and the outputs up-down according to the markings.

Does this make sense? And will it work?

Ideology correct, this will work safely.

Thank you for your help on how to connect the relays to the buttons.

I am troubled by one more problem. Namely, it is about how to control these relays, as I mentioned I would like to use the Logitech harmony ultimate remote to control them. The remote works as follows: When the button is pressed, it sends a signal via radio to the hub then the hub sends a SINGLE ir pulse to the receiver holding down the button on the remote longer does not extend the ir signal (at least not immediately) but sends a different command (two commands per button one for a click and the other for holding down the button longer).

I was thinking of using an AVT 390 module, but I have concerns that after setting it to monostable mode of operation, a single signal from my remote may not be enough to move the relay and start the roller shutter movement or act like a monostable button which will start a bistable relay. (lighting control)

If the module, after receiving a pulse, applied a high signal to the output for about one second and then returned to a low state then the relay would do its job. Unfortunately after searching the internet I can't find anything that works as described. Does anyone perhaps have any other ideas on how to solve the problem.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions

Thank you for your attention to my spelling, I have corrected the errors I found. Polish is not an easy language (I am still learning) so I apologise for any mistakes.

Topic summary

The discussion addresses integrating conventional wall-mounted monostable pushbuttons with a Logitech Harmony Ultimate remote control to operate lighting and external roller blinds. The proposed solution involves using relay modules controlled both by manual buttons and an IR receiver decoding signals from the Harmony remote, mimicking monostable button behavior. Key considerations include ensuring all devices have identical output types and implementing protection against simultaneous conflicting commands (e.g., pressing "up" and "down" simultaneously) to prevent damage to roller shutter drives. Two-button roller shutter controllers typically lack built-in protection against such conflicts, but the physical buttons inherently prevent simultaneous activation. A recommended approach involves using relay modules with NC, COM, and NO contacts (e.g., AVT3138) combined with a roller shutter controller (e.g., STR-1 F&F) wired to avoid conflicting signals. The AVT390 module in monostable mode is considered for relay control via the Harmony remote's IR pulses; concerns exist about whether single IR pulses suffice to trigger relay activation reliably. The overall integration strategy is confirmed as viable and safe, emphasizing the need for careful wiring and component selection to maintain manual control functionality in case of IR system failure.
