I would like to install a lamp at the entrance gate to the property which will light up when the gate is opened and only go out when the gate closes. I have come up with the idea of mounting a pushbutton on the gate which the gate leaf will short-circuit. When the button is opened, voltage is applied to the lamp (light). When the gate closes, the gate leafs short-circuit the button and the light goes out. Please give me some ideas on how to implement such a system.

Remember that advice is given remotely in the absence of physical access to the device, the problem must be very well described and understood by users and the title should include make, model and a summary description of the fault.

Specify the model of your door operator, maybe it has an additional lighting function

The fitter suggested fitting a warning light that lights up when the door is opening and closing, but this light goes out when the door is not in motion (opens). I want the light to switch on when the door starts to open and stay on until the door closes - in other words, if the door has been open for 2 hours, the light stays on for that 2 hours and the door control system does not have this option.

In this case the first idea with a limit switch would be the best, but then the lamps must be on 12V-24V because it would not be good with 230V during the rain.
Such a switch is sufficient for you; it has a load capacity of 5A per contact

And this limit switch cannot control another switch which would supply 230V?

What is a door controller? Most have an additional output function to control peripheral devices

The only thing you can do is to make the limit switch control the contactor coil and the contactor contacts connect 230V to the lamps, but in such a system you need two different voltages
To control the contactor coil so that it is safe, you need 12-24V, e.g. from some power supply
And through the contacts of the contactor you give 230V

jwigl whether the drive type is such a big secret cannot be revealed :?: we don't even know if it's a swing gate or a sliding gate.

If the drive does not have the function you are after then in my opinion if there are limiters then just add a small relay.

Topic summary

The discussion revolves around implementing a lighting system that activates when a gate is opened and remains on until the gate closes. The original idea involved using a pushbutton that would be short-circuited by the gate leaf to control the lamp. However, the user clarified that they want the light to stay on for an extended period, even if the gate remains open. Suggestions included using a limit switch to control the lamp, with recommendations for using 12V-24V lamps for safety during rain. A limit switch could control a contactor to safely manage 230V power to the lamp. The conversation also touched on the need for additional information about the gate type and drive system to provide more tailored solutions.
