I am looking for a solution to automatically read the water meter (ordinary mechanical). Preferably, the solution would read the status e.g.: every 5 minutes, so that it would be known when the consumption was.

Mount a camera Or a time-lapse camera.

If the meter has a pulser then read the pulses and calculate the consumption. It is also possible to use a camera and teach Frigate to read the digits.

Why such accuracy (reading every 5 minutes)?
