This forum is a bit advanced for me, but maybe you guys can point me in the right direction. I'm looking for BR30 or downlights for my new house that will sync with music. Ledfx will do with WLED devices. It seems most generic wifi smart bulbs use Tuya chipsets. And many of those can be flashed to be with a WLED firmware I believe. Can I search this database for compatible lights somehow? Is my thinking correct? There was something about using DDP packets being used instead.

I haven’t really explored wled much but you can enable ddp on openbeken and control it from wled

Another option is teckin br30 sold on their official site which does have esp8266

OpenBeken supports DDP on both single-color lights and on per-pixel-lighting WS2812B strips as well, so there is a wide choice of options you use.
You can also just choose an ESP-based solution, which is also very good, but many devices that were using ESP now can come with Beken, and then you'd have to do Beken to ESP swap, because Beken seems to be very popular in Tuya products these days.

No matter which route you'll choose, let us know, we will try to help you with the setup.

Here is a database of devices compatible with OBK:
    https://openbekeniot.github.io/webapp/devicesList.html
but it's not complete, many devices can be flashed early, just get one and ask on our forum and we will help with flashing.

Any idea on the color accuracy or CRI quality on the Teckin vs Kauf?

Doesn't appear to be a way to search the database on bulb type, I was looking at this bulb as it as a 90CRI but I don't see it in the database: https://www.feit.com/collections/smart-wi-fi-...-rgbw-alexa-google-smart-bulb-br30-rgbw-ca-ag

Nice find, but doesn't can't seem to find anywhere to purchase that light from. Looks like it requires soldering, I'm hoping for one that is directly flashable.

I can't guarantee anything to be wireless-flashable. The wireless method is patched nowadays and only devices from old batches are vulnerable. Still, if you need help with soldering, I can help with that...

Oh I didn't realize that method doesn't work anymore. I emailed feit and they said this bulb does have a BK7231 chipset. So if I it was soldered it could be flashed with WLED?

    @mike37
No idea on the CRI/color accuracy but you’re welcome to try it out. 4 pack as low as $12 and cheaper if you buy more

You don’t even need to solder it, you can just hook some probe clips to start flashing it

I think I'm gonna buy a Teckin br30 to try it out. What's the procedure to put WLED on it?

Thanks, this is all completely new to me. Would this require soldering then, I'm not quite clear how I would physically connect the bulb to the serial port?

    For ESP8266 Tuya, there is a tuya-convert project: https://github.com/ct-Open-Source/tuya-convert
but I don't know if it supports that particular device, maybe @ferbulous know

Tuya converts patched with the teckin bulbs so serial method is the only option
