The case was difficult to open without damaging it.

Thanks to jasperro posting a very similar unit.

I was able to dump the firmware via UART and attached.

I was able to get the White LED turned on and off with White on the RGB lights. Not sure what to do next.

I think basically SPI LED support on the LN882H platform is a work-in-progress. I'm not sure what @jasperro's plans are for further development.

ok learning lots about LED strips and the different types.

This strip is using the SM16703 controller with separate W, WW and RGB.
I was able to poke around and get the W and WW lite, but not consistently.

I was reading @darconeous post on a similar strip based on the BK7231N.

Lots of great work by many people, thanks for all the info.

Any updates on this, I am trying out the same strip and could only get white.

I've not seen any development for SPI on LN882H beyond @jasperro's custom build

@biga888 @boomfunk give the latest OpenLN882H a try if not already checked

Topic summary

The discussion centers on the teardown and firmware exploration of the Feit Electric Indoor 19.7 ft. Smart Colour Chasing Strip Light, model FETAP20CAN/CONT, which uses the LN882HKI chip. The device's enclosure is difficult to open without damage. Firmware was successfully dumped via UART, enabling control of the white LED and RGB white channel, but further functionality remains limited. The LED strip employs the SM16703 controller with separate white (W), warm white (WW), and RGB channels. SPI LED support on the LN882H platform is still under development, with no significant progress beyond a custom build by a contributor named jasperro. Users report inconsistent control of the W and WW LEDs and limited success in activating colors beyond white. Related work on similar LED strips using the BK7231N chip is referenced for additional insights.
