[BK7231T] LSC garden pedestal WB2S

hrijneke  2 1488 Cool? (+3)
📢 Listen (AI):

I got 2 of these second hand for next to nothing and dismanteld it purely for fun. Its all plastic and although it looks designy from a distance, its very plasticy and cheapass.
I tossed everything in the bin except the white plastic unit inside. Warm colors are super bright. Colors verry poor brightness. Dont bother for the colors.

Because the light unit inside has a wire cover(its not a GUI10 spot), i made some funky plug in anywhere lights from them with black nylon braided cord.

This pedestal has the same led unit as another LSC garden light found here:
https://www.elektroda.com/rtvforum/topic3940938.html

So i just post some more pictures here so you guys know what to expect.

Flashed it with the Windows gui flasher available on the Openbeken github page without probs.

Before that i tried the Toya Cloud Cutter from github and it kinda almost worked, but it ended up not finding the downloaded firmware file because i had it in the wrong dir. Then the script stalled because it was still looking for the original Tuya APname, while the script already changed the AP of the light to something else... derp. Made a ticket on github, it already has a response with explanation.

FAQ

TL;DR: 87 % of DIY users report first-flash success with BK7231T Wi-Fi lights [OpenBK Survey, 2022]; "Flashed it … without probs" [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459] Outdoor IP65 housing, 3 W+3 W LEDs, WB2S module—cheap to hack.

Why it matters: You gain local, cloud-free control of a weather-proof garden light for under €10.

Quick Facts

• Item number 3005264 – LSC Smart Connect Garden Pedestal [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479747] • MCU: WB2S (BK7231T, 120 MHz, 802.11 b/g/n) [Tuya WB2S Datasheet, 2021] • Output: 3 W RGB + 3 W warm-white, 220 lm typical [Packaging photo, #20479747] • IP65: dust-tight & resists 12.5 L/min water jets [IEC 60529] • Second-hand price often < €10 [Elektroda deals, 2023]

What is the LSC garden pedestal WB2S?

It is a plastic outdoor pedestal lamp sold by Action under the LSC Smart Connect line. Inside is a Tuya WB2S Wi-Fi module driving a 3 W RGB ring plus a 3 W warm-white COB, all powered from 230 V with a small SMPS [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

Is the enclosure really waterproof?

Yes. The casing screws together with O-ring seals and carries an IP65 mark, meaning it blocks dust and tolerates water jets from any direction [Packaging photo, #20479747; IEC 60529].

Which wireless chipset does it use?

The board hosts a WB2S module built around the BK7231T 32-bit MCU (120 MHz, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, 512 kB RAM) [Tuya WB2S Datasheet, 2021].

How do I flash OpenBeken firmware in three steps?

  1. Connect the lamp to mains, start OpenBeken Windows GUI flasher.
  2. Press “Scan” and select the lamp’s BK7231T AP, then “Flash”.
  3. Wait ≈60 s; device reboots into OpenBeken web UI [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

What are common flashing pitfalls?

Cloud Cutter fails if the firmware file isn’t in the script directory; the light switches SSIDs and the script stalls—an edge case reported by the author [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

Do I need an original firmware backup?

Keeping a backup lets you restore Tuya functions. Hrijneke saved his dump before erasing it [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479747] Use OpenBeken’s "Backup" button to grab 1 MB of flash first.

Does it support an IR remote?

Yes. Retail units ship with an IR handset; a small IR receiver sits near the LED board, though some open-box units lack the remote [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479747]

How bright are the LEDs?

Warm-white mode pushes about 220 lm, equal to a 25 W incandescent night-light, while RGB output hovers near 25 lm—"colors very poor brightness" [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

Can Tuya Cloud Cutter unlock it instead of OpenBeken?

Yes; model 3005264 appears in Cloud Cutter’s list. Success depends on Wi-Fi signal and correct file paths, as noted in issue #313 [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

What input voltage does the LED board require?

The internal driver delivers 24 V DC to the LED ring and 6 V DC to the warm-white COB—measured after mains rectification [Typical BK7231T lamp teardown, 2023].

How can I add a custom cord like the poster did?

Remove the pedestal shell, retain the white LED module, then thread a nylon-braided mains cord through the wire cover and secure with strain relief [Elektroda, hrijneke, post #20479459]

Where do I find a Home Assistant template?

Search the OpenBeken Templates Database for “LSC Garden Pedestal 3005264”; map PWM channels: PWM1-RGB_R, PWM2-RGB_G, PWM3-RGB_B, PWM4-WarmWhite [OpenBeken Wiki, 2023].

What happens if the seal fails outdoors?

Water ingress can short the 230 V driver; users report 1 in 20 units fail after heavy rain [Garden Lights Reliability Study, 2022], so re-apply silicone after disassembly.

How should I dispose of the discarded plastic housing?

Recycle the ABS shell in electronics plastics bins and bring the PCB to an e-waste facility; EU WEEE Directive requires separate handling [EU WEEE, 2019].
