The problem is now the device can't seem to be initialized at all to have another attempt. I cannot get the Beken Writer to see...

It's not a failure of your serial converter instead?

If you are 100% sure, that device has damaged bootloader (so none of the UART flash tools can see it), then you can recover it via SPI: The strange thing is that it should not be damaged in that way via failed OTA, because, as far as I know, OTA is not rewriting the bootloader, it only changes the application. What kind of Tuya module do you have? If it's something like WB2S/WB3S, then it can be replaced with ESP.

Thanks for the responses. I have checked the serial usb on another device, this worked. So I can rule that out.I am using direct soldered connections, not OTA. I'll read the attached article and see if I can find a way to get it to respond.The chip is a Tuya WB3LTx.
