1. How can I quickly tell if my DSO150 board is fake?
Check the stickered serial. If it reads eZn6IX2r or t2uvGy8a, firmware ≥ 064 will halt with “This board is FAKE!” [Elektroda, blady-brs, post #16696862] Genuine units show unique 8-char alphanumerics and boot normally after v110.
2. What happens when the scope shows a permanent white screen?
The FW cleared option byte WDG_SW and the watchdog never kicks. Re-flash any working HEX, then tick “WDG_SW” in STM32 Flash Loader’s “Edit option bytes” dialog and reset the board [Elektroda, DocRV, post #18845061]
3. Which firmware versions are safe for counterfeit boards?
Patched 113-15001-060A, -120 and -122 run on clones after two HEX edits that replace fake-serial checks and invert the activation test [Elektroda, boyak75, #19885111; mrsim0ns, #20646287]. Un-patched v110–122 will lock the unit.
4. How do I apply the dual-patch in three steps?
- Open the Jyetech HEX in a text editor.
- Change lines 2954-2955 and 1634-1636 (fake-serial & branch flip) per patch list.
- Flash with STM32 bootloader at 115 200 bps, then remove JP1/JP2 links.

5. After patching, the rotary encoder stops after a few days—why?
Firmware ≥ 064 cyclically saves settings to U2. When U2 rejects writes, FW zeroes config and disables encoder. Skipping the offending routine (custom jump) prevents the freeze [Elektroda, Benutzername, post #20898625]
6. Can I store settings without the original U2 chip?
Yes. A small MCU (e.g., STM32F103) running an I²C stub that emulates ATSHA204A registers and writes parameters to internal flash restores save capability [Elektroda, Benutzername, post #20881213]
7. Is backing up the factory firmware possible?
Use STM’s Flash Demonstrator “Upload from Device”. Success depends on read-out protection; some users found the flash already blanked during a failed update [Elektroda, karwo, post #16886899]

11. Does the ST-Link method avoid BOOT0/BOOT1 solder bridges?
